Antiwar.com

Ouch. Antiwar.com has been an essential part of my reading list since I discovered the site in 2002. For over ten years they've advocated peace and non-interventionist foreign policy, and they present news and insights you just won't find in more mainstream media. The site's mission trumps ideological divides, and its very common to see links to such disparate figures as Pat Buchanan and Glenn Greenwald on the same page. They also offer a phenomenal podcast with interviews featuring John Cusack, Ron Paul, and a brutal takedown of John Hagee.
To fund all this Antiwar.com holds quarterly fundraisers. They don't take advertising revenue and are completely dependent on small contributions to cover their costs. As my fellow readers know these fundraisers have always been nerve wracking, nail biting affairs.
Their most recent fundraiser has been particularly brutal. Its been eleven days and they're nowhere near their fundraising goal. This is a really bad time to be fundraising... the economy is miserable, gas prices are atrocious, and the 2008 presidential election campaigns have been heavily soliciting donations. And sadly, with the Iraq war being front and center of the 2008 presidential campaign and tensions with Iran on the rise there has never been a more important time to contribute.
I'm between jobs and in a major life transition, but I stepped up to the plate and donated. You know you want to! Have I asked you for anything before? If you need an excuse, my birthday's coming up on the sixteenth. You can use my drink money. Just do it.
